Microsofts new Default Font Aptos arrives in PowerPoint & Co.
August 20, 2023
Good bye Calibri, Say hello to Aptos!
In the world of design and presentations, fonts play an important role in conveying messages, setting the tone, and leaving a lasting impression. For years, Microsoft's Calibri has been the default font for its Office suite, including PowerPoint, but recently, the tech giant made a significant announcement. Calibri is out, and Aptos is in as the new default font for Microsoft PowerPoint.
Aptos is a sans-serif font just like Calibri, but it's got a little extra swagger. So, why the change, you ask? Well, Microsoft knows that in the design game you've got to keep things fresh, and they might have made a smart move here. Calibri has become overused recently, and it almost gives a sense of laziness when you see decks using Calibri. So, it's gonna be interesting to see how this switch to Aptos typeface will be received.
We just had a quick play with it, and from first glance it is definitely a much more dynamic font compared to the previous default font. We'll miss you Calibri, but we welcome Aptos with open arms!
